PSP Guide - Installing RemoteJoy Lite v.0.20a with sound / video capture and playback!
(Edited: 8/27/10) [moved from old blog]
Confirmed! Works on Windows 7!
(Edited: 8/15/11) Still works! I made a video! Updated remotejoy pack! Now includes popsloader!
(Edited: 11/03/11) Tiny revising. Fraps is now ready for download.

Sample video of remotejoy video capture in Fraps in action. Sound works. Clear picture. Rendered in Sony Vegas Pro.

Earlier today I've been wondering how I'm going to make PSP videos since I found out you need the PSP Slim in order to make the composite output TV cable work. Only the PSP Slim has TV output compatibility. Since I have the fat PSP I can't record games like I do with my consoles (Wii, PS2, etc...). But now I found the best way to record PSP gameplay if you do not have a PSP Slim.

Remote Joy
Basically allows you to play PSP Games on your computer monitor like UMD, ISO, CSO and Homebrew. You can even record your gameplay also with Fraps.

*Tutorial will work for RemoteJoy Lite v.0.19. Additional info is added by me and base tutorial is by xxANOLIFExx. Most of his work is credited. I based this tutorial from ANOLIFE's video but... his YouTube video and account got removed. Follow the instructions here. The new RemoteJoy Lite v0.20a tutorial.

Requirements you'll need...
1. Custom firmware
PSP 2.82 to 5.00 M33-4 My old video of me homebrewing a PSP back in 2008.
I don't know what measures you have to take in installing custom firmware in your PSP these days but, if this doesn't give you much reference you must search around on how to homebrew your PSP.

2. USB cord compatible for PSP

3. Winrar
- Download
- Tutorial

4. Administrator rights on your computer

Will work on custom firmware...
- 3.71 M33
- 3.80 M33
- 3.90 M33
- 4.01 M33
- 5.00 M33
- 5.02 GEN-A
I don't know about further GEN versions and how it will work with this. I'm a M33 user.
(Edited: 11/3/11) I'm no longer involved as much in the PSP scene.. so I'm old school in M33. My PSP still uses 5.00 M33-6 so I don't know if any the latest versions out there will work. You can try it out though.

- RemoteJoy Lite v0.20a Pack -
Download.jpg

Includes...
- PSP Type B Driver Install (ENG)
- RemoteJoy Lite v0.20a
- NEW! 5.00 popsloader (for 5.00 M33-2 or higher!) and GEN

Note: You need popsloader in order for PSX games to work.

In order to make RemoteJoy work with all games you gotta enter...
flash0:/kd/usb.prx (pops.txt ONLY!)
ms0:/seplugins/remotejoylite.prx
Into vsh.txt, game.txt, game150.txt, and pops.txt.

pops.txt

Example of mine...
flash0:/kd/usb.prx (MUST BE AT THE TOP)
ms0:/seplugins/RemoteJoyLite.prx (MUST COME SECOND)
ms0:/seplugins/cwcheat/cwcheatpops.prx (FROM HERE PUT EXTRA PLUGINS)
ms0:/seplugins/popsloader.prx

To install, simply create a folder called SEPLUGINS in the same directory where PSP is(not in it), the ms0, and put everything inside of it. Then, turn your PSP on and hold R, go to plugins, and select popsloader. From there, activate your PSX-PSP game, and select your pops(3.72 for Chrono Cross, 3.80 for MGSv2, etc)."

Follow xxANOLIFExx's tutorial and replace RemoteJoyLite.prx and run RemoteJoyLite_en.exe with the pack above. Also run PSP Type B USB Driver Install.exe. Use the files given in the pack.

Instead of downloading...

Type B installer Link:

Download the - RemoteJoy Lite v0.20a Pack - and use the files inside instead.

After you got RemoteJoy Lite working it's time to use Fraps!

- Fraps 3.4.7 [OCT 2011] FULL REGISTERED -

Settings:
- Tick 'Record Sound'
- Tick 'Use Windows input'
- 30 fps is recommended but higher is better according to your PC specs
- Tick Half-size (for slow PC) or Full-size (for fast PC)
- Leave 'No cursor' & 'No sync' blank"

How to record sound

"To record sound you will need a wire that goes from the PSP's headphone jack to the computers line-in (microphone slot) jack here is a picture of the one similar to mine.
c217_054p2.gif
Remove unwanted static or buzzing while audio jack is plugged in to Line-In

Windows XP
"Also you may get some sounds that doesn't come from the PSP and can mess with the recording of the sound (like annoying buzzing or static) you can fix this by opening the speaker settings on your PC and under the wave setting check mute under wave."
(don't forget to uncheck after its done recoding or you wont hear anything) - Source

Windows Vista & Windows 7
- Go to the bottom right hand corner
- Right click speaker icon
- Go to 'Sounds'
- Go to 'Recording" tab
- Right click 'Microphone' and go to 'Properties'
- Go to 'Enhancements' tab and check 'Noise Suppression'
- Go to 'Levels' tab and reduce 'Microphone Boost' to '0.0 dB'
- 'Apply' and click 'OK'!

*When you are done recording your videos add '20.0 db' back to 'Microphone Boost'

Ok I hope this has been helpful! Enjoy!
